kavakos-heroLeonidas returns to the Far East in March 2015 for recitals with pianist Enrico Pace at the Hong Kong Arts Festival on 27 March and Shanghai Concert Hall on 29 March. They will perform works by Schubert, Strauss, Korngold and Beethoven.

The recitals come one year after the duo’s sell-out recitals of Beethoven Sonatas at the same venues March 2014, to critical acclaim:

“Kavakos has extraordinary talent. He found the perfect balance of quality of sound and musicianship.”
Oriental Morning Post, March 2014

“During the concert, he played as if the violin was part of his body. A golden sound flowed out of the bottom of his heart, playing each phrase in his own musical language.”
China Business News, March 2014

Leonidas and Enrico Pace are regular and long-standing recital partners, recently performing all over Europe, the United States, including at Carnegie Hall, and in the Far East. The duo recorded Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano, released in January 2013 on Decca Classics.

“The unrivalled elegance and beauty of Leonidas Kavakos’s sound would be reason enough to embark with him on a traversal of the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano, but it’s the probing musicianship he and the excellent pianist Enrico Pace bring to it that make the ride so thrilling. The conversations, arguments and flirtations between violin and piano that Beethoven writes into these sonatas are all rendered with spirit and impeccable taste.”
