Leonidas Kavakos returns to the London Philharmonic Orchestra for concerts in the UK and Spain between 2 and 9 October 2015. Kavakos and the orchestra play Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor, conducted by the LPO’s Principal Conductor and Artistic Director, Vladimir Jurowski.

The orchestra begins their series of concerts at the new Saffron Hall on 2 October, where Kavakos returns at the end of the season. After performing at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 3 October, they visit five Spanish cities: Barcelona, Alicante, Madrid, Zaragoza and San Sebastian.

In Kavakos’s last appearance with the LPO in January 2014, a performance in memory of Claudio Abbado that was described by the Guardian as “strong and lyrical”, Jurowski joined Kavakos on the harpsichord for Bach Violin Concerto No.1 in A minor and Hartmann Concerto Funebre.

Kavakos returns to Spain a few weeks later to conduct the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and play as soloist for concerts of Beethoven in Oviedo’s Auditorio Palacio de Congressos Principe Felipe, and later repeats the programme in Lisbon.
