First performances as Artist-in-Residence of the New York Philharmonic

Leonidas Kavakos begins his season as the New York Philharmonic’s Artist-in-Residence when he conducts four concerts with the orchestra on 20, 21, 22 and 25 October 2016 at David Geffen hall. The concerts also mark his conducting debut with the orchestra. Kavakos conducts Busoni Berceuse élégiaque and Schumann Symphony No.2, and also conducts and plays Bach Violin Concerto No.1.

Kavakos also conduct one of the Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concerts on 22 October with a programme of J.S Bach, Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi.

Kavakos’ residency with the New York Philharmonic includes two further concert periods with the orchestra, in addition to a recital with regular collaborator Yuja Wang.
