Leonidas returns to Paris on 12 April to perform L’arbre des songes (The Tree of Dreams) by Henri Dutilleux with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The concert is conducted by Myung-Whun Chung and will be broadcast live on France Musique.

The concerto is structured of four uninterrupted movements and according to Dutilleux is based on the idea of continual growth and renewal:

“All in all the piece grows somewhat like a tree, for the constant multiplication and renewal of its branches is the lyrical essence of the tree. This symbolic image, as well as the notion of a seasonal cycle, inspired my choice of ‘L’arbre des songes’ as the title of the piece.”

Leonidas recorded L’arbre des songes in 2016 live at the Barbican with Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra for a DVD released on LSO Live. Click here for more information.
